The works to your Village Hall roof upgrade have started with the erection of the access scaffolding which will not only provide a temporary roof covering but enable safe access for the works to be carried out. The anticipated completion of the Scaffold is around the end of July/early August.

When the temporary roof is complete the existing concrete tiles will be removed, the membrane placed between the rafters and additional insulation provided. Then to increase the thermal performance of the roof construction another layer of insulation will be provided, this layer also has a membrane on top. The battens to support the Welsh slates will be installed together with the framing for the Photovoltaic (PV) Panels. The roof is now watertight and the temporary covering and the upper scaffolding will be removed in November. The PV panels will be installed, together with new external down downlighters to hopefully achieve a contribution to the previously agreed dark sky policy within the Village Hall environs. The roof project is not only designed to achieve better thermal performance but also there is an improvement in the acoustic performance resulting in a substantial reduction in sound escaping through the roof. The VHMC is very grateful for all of the advice freely given to assist in the final design of the roof and the revised external down lighting that will be provided at the end of the works. The anticipated date for the completion of the works is just before Christmas 2025.

T J Evers are responsible for the site safety within the secured area around the scaffold, there will be a requirement for a teleporter to be used to deliver and remove materials from the roof works. The teleporter movements will be supervised by a suitably qualified banksman. Please be aware when the movements are taking place and your VH is being used. Your Village Hall will remain open with all but one of the fire exits available, the changing room and the side passage are closed for the duration of the works. During the scaffolding operations of erection and dismantling the use of the car park will be restricted, please be accommodating and try not to obstruct the Builder's movement of materials. Building work generally stops at 4.30pm each day Monday to Friday with some Saturday mornings may be required.
